Spring is in the Air

22 Sep 2020

Stylist Kerry's top ten picks to get you looking and feeling good this spring.

Is it just me or was that the longest. winter. ever? At Shore City, we have a spring in our step as we welcome in those longer sunny days with easy wearing spring trends and pretty colour palettes.

Check out our 10 hot picks to celebrate Spring 2020 - a new season, a fresh outlook and a little self love.

1. Denim Jacket

I say it every year, but really, everyone needs a denim jacket in their capsule wardrobe - particularly in spring as an extra easy wearing layer as we move away from heavy knits and coats.  The perfect weekend throw on or drape it around your shoulders for a chic vibe.

2. Straight Leg Jeans

Post lockdown legs are shouting hallelujah as we move away from skinnies and into a more relaxed cut denim. If you feel the leg is a little too relaxed, cuff your denim to sit on the ankle for a a more flattering fit.

3. Culottes

As a self confessed pant lover, the culotte is the skirt of the pant world and oh so feminine to wear. The extra fabric in the leg is forgiving and flirty with the extra swish factor and the icing on the cake? Elasticated waist bands. Post lockdown need I say more?!

4. Pretty Pastels

OK, I’m just going to throw this out there but I am SO thankful to see the back end of mustard. It’s not a colour that likes me very much so imagine my delight when I saw my beloved pastels hit the shelves. Perfect soft colour pops for us cool toned gals. Think dreamy blues, spearmint, lilac and lemon.

2. Just Jeans Levi Straight Jean $159.95
3. Farmers Whistle Culotte Pant $79.99
4. Country Road Organic Linen Pant $199

5. Kitten Heels

Another easy wearing spring trend which is a little Sex in the City with it's nod to the 90's is the Kitten Heel with it’s slip on convenience and slight heel. The perfect heel for those of us who love our flats.

6. Gingham Print

Classic and innocently chic, gingham has made a comeback this season and I am not surprised. It adds a sweet element to an otherwise simple style with it’s uncomplicated colours and delicate check.

7. Self Tan

Been hibernating? A good self tan does so much for the soul. We can’t get to Rarotonga so bring Rarotonga to you with a healthy glow. It’s the perfect beauty step to prepare you for getting the pins out and gives the illusion of better skin tone too.

8. Linen Shirt

The must have fabric for spring is linen with it’s raw natural element and the relaxed styling of an oversized boyfriend cut. Give it more shape by tying a knot at the front and roll the sleeves to sit at a flattering line on your body.

9. Spring Lippy

Kiss lockdown goodbye with a beautiful bright lipstick. Getting into the hang of makeup again can take some time after working from home, but a new bold lip will see you right.

See the team at Life Pharmacy to help you with the right colour that shouts all things Spring.

10. Pedicure

Getting the toes out? Take some time to get those tootsies Spring ready with a relaxing pedicure at ProfessioNail or Kiwi Nails and Spa. Stylist tip - I consider painted nails an element of ‘accessorizing’ which totally helps finish your look.

Treat yourself, take care of yourself and celebrate life in spring style.
