Five Jackets You Need Right Now

15 Jun 2017

I'm loving the variety of jackets we have around Shore City at the moment, so I've put together a little list of my top 5 jackets, and given you a bit of insider info as to how I would style them.

Well it's definitely jacket weather now! Rain or shine, those cold southerlies blow up the country and add a chill to the air.

But sometimes, especially when the sun is shining, it’s actually not that cold here in Auckland, and a heavy winter coat is just too big and bulky.

A good, sturdy jacket is just what you need! (And if you feel the cold a little more than your average bear, you can still layer your merino underneath).

I’m loving the variety of jackets we have around Shore City at the moment, so I though I’d put together a little list of my top 5 faves, and give you a bit of insider info as to how I would style them.

So here they are:

1. JUST JEANS AMAZE BIKER JACKET $109.95

Want a denim jacket that isn’t your standard denim jacket? Then look no further! This cool biker-style option from Just Jeans is the perfect combo of funky and casual.

Wear it with jeans and a tee, or use it to dress down a frock for a weekend adventure (or casual Friday at work).

2. MAX WOOL JACKET $179.00

I love everything about this jacket! It’s basically a short coat, it’s wool so it’s warm, and that blush pink colour – oh my! AND if pink isn’t your thing, it also comes in navy too.

So often we don’t need a big, heavy coat here in Auckland, which is why I think this is the perfect alternative. Wear it with jeans on the weekend, or over your work clothes on the morning commute, it even works for an evening event over a dress as it isn’t too long!

3. PORTMAN'S SEQUIN SLEEVE BOMBER $89.95 (ON SALE)

The Bomber Jacket is one of the biggest trend shapes of the season and they make a nice change from everything else we always see around.

The updated shape of the bomber is much more flattering than they used to be, the fit is neater and more feminine so they don’t add too much bulk to your frame. There are so many gorgeous styles around that will add just a little bit of fun and fabulous-ness to any outfit.

4. THE CLASSIC DENIM JACKET FROM JUST JEANS $89.99

If you are only going to buy one jacket this winter, this should be it! It’s the world’s most comfortable denim jacket.

The ‘amaze’ fabric that Just Jeans use for this (and some of their denim jeans too) is super-soft and stretchy, making it feel like you are wearing a cardigan, but infact you’re rocking a cool, funky jacket that practically goes with anything!

Bonus stylist tip: Yes you can wear this with jeans! Just make sure the denims are different colours so you don’t look like you’re wearing a denim suit haha!

5. ESPRIT THICK JERSEY OUTDOOR GILET $139.95

Not your average jacket, a gilet (or sleeveless jacket) comes in quite useful in our mild Auckland climate.

Layer it up with a long sleeve merino underneath, or pop it on over a long-sleeved winter dress for a cool layered look.

I’ve got several of this style jacket in my wardrobe and it continues to surprise me how much wear I get out it! Worth giving a go for sure!

So 5 winter jacket options and not a long, heavy coat in sight! There are so many gorgeous options around at the moment, so make sure you head into Shore City this week and try some jackets on! Just tell ‘em I sent you ;-)

PLUS there are heaps of sales on at the moment, like Just Jeans' buy one get one half price on full price AND 25% off sales stock (exclusive to Shore City) so it's a great time to update your winter wardrobe.

Until next time, happy shopping

Cait xoxo
