Three Easy Summer BBQ Looks

30 Jan 2018

Here are three looks you could totally rock for a casual Summer BBQ catch up with friends, and they will also help you beat the heat!

Whoa! Hello heatwave!

I hope you're doing ok in this heat? Dressing for the hot weather is the hardest too right?

Well lucky for you, not only am I a style expert, I'm a style expert that grew up in Queensland so dressing for the heat is my jam!

Even though most of us are back at work now, we are still blessed to have long summer nights where we can catch up with friends for a backyard BBQ, or even a trip down to the beach for fish and chips.

And rather than just throwing on any old shorts and tee, why not use it as an excuse to pull out a gorgeous summer casual look that has some fun to it!

Here are three suggested looks you could totally rock for a casual BBQ catchup with friends, and they will also help you beat the heat!

OUTFIT #1 - The Cotton Maxi

Airflow is your friend in this weather! And a light weight cotton maxi can help you with just that!

Add a statement earring and some gorgeous wedges and you'll look super-cool in the heat. You could even take a denim jacket with you if you're worried about an evening chill.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Esprit flowing crepe maxi dress $119.95 | Portmans drop earrings $24.95 | Merchant 1948 (formerly Overland) "Queenie" wedge heel $199.90

OUTFIT #2 - Dressed Up Denim

Yes, I know it's technically just "shorts and a tee" but adding a stylish accessory like a kimono can totally change your look!

As the sun sets, the kimono will give you a little bit of sun protection over your arms, and then gives you some warmth as night kicks in.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Cotton On "Holly" kimono $34.99 | Portmans basic stripe tee $29.95 | Country Road denim shorts $99.90 | Mi Piaci "Macintosh" lilac sandals $180 (on sale)

OUTFIT #3 - Wide-Leg Pant Perfection

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, culottes are THE perfect summer pants! They are light weight, loose for airflow, and can be dressed up or down.

Pair them with a singlet and sandals for your relaxed summer BBQ, but you can definitely dress them up for work too! Versatile pieces are the best right?

OUTFIT DETAILS: Jacqui E "Faith" cotton tank $39.95 | Country Road wide brim hat $89.90 | Glassons linen blend tie wide-leg pant $49.99 |  Merchant 1948 (formerly Overland) "Commotion" low heel in mustard $199.90

Summer dressing can be all about colour, print and fun if you want it to be! So embrace the heat, have fun with your fashion and don't be scared to try something new.

Until Next Time, Happy Shopping
