Choose the right specs for your face

03 Aug 2017

Four tips on how to chose the right glasses for your face at Specsavers Takapuna

Glasses. Some of us wear them, some don’t.

But if you do, different pairs can certainly change the way your face looks!

I recently popped into see James and the team at SpecSavers Takapuna, right in Shore City, to get my eyes checked as I hadn’t tested them for a while.

Turns out I still have 20/20 vision, so I don’t need glasses, but I DO love an accessory so couldn’t help myself trying on a few different pairs to see what would work should I have needed glasses.

Choosing glasses can be such an overwhelming experience – so many styles to choose from, and they are something you potentially wear everyday so you need to choose a pair you love!

I’ve got a few little tips to help you find the right pair, if you are in the market for a new pair.

Do you love clean and classic? Or is bold and bright more up your alley? Choose a frame that reflects your own style. I love the pop of red in this pair, but they are still slimline and feminine in their shape.

If you have a long, thin face, you want frames that break it up and go across your face and widen it.

If you have a round face, square or rectangle frames create a great contrast.

And if your face is quite angular, look for softer frames with rounder edges.

If you wear makeup, make sure you wear your usual makeup when trying on your frames. You want to make sure that the frame works with your usual everyday look.

These clear frames would be great if you like wearing heavier makeup. You can still see the details without the frames taking over.

The team at Specsavers can take a snap with one if their iPads in store and help you compare photos. If you’re still struggling, pick out your three faves, go have a coffee and then come back and try them again.

Make sure you have fun with the frames you choose. Try on ones you wouldn’t normally and you might be pleasantly surprised with what you find.

So many frames, so little time! I’ve already put my next eye check in the diary (I just wanna have another accessory to play with haha!).

But seriously, even if you don’t think you need glasses, if you haven’t had an eye exam for a while, head over to Specsavers and book one in – it’s actually kinda important to keep on top of your eye health to monitor for any changes.
